Daycare Boos and Yahoos....

So Rilyn had been going to Kids Complete since he was 2 months old. We started them there because the twins had been going there since before Rilyn was born. We really liked the staff and Rilyn loved all of his litle friends there. Everyone knew Rilyns name, even teachers that didnt ever help in his room.

Fast forward to last wednesday 1/28/09. Jeff calls me at Janie and Jack and tells me that he has some really bad news. I thought someone died by the way that he sounded. I brace myself and he lets it rip "Daycare stapled a letter to Ri's sheet and they are closing effective 2/6/09." They are having finacial problems and need to close by next week in order to be able to pay their employees. I flip out, get off the phone, cry and call him back all in a 10 minute span. I am so mad I can hardly think straight. I immediately start rattling off daycare names that I can think of off the top of my head. I tell jeff to Google them so that I can call them first thing Thursday morning.

I get to work early Thursday, get all my running around done and sit down and start calling. Hamilton Heights = Full, Rosewood Academy = Full, and then I call ABC Childcare. I have been driving past this place everyday for the past three years and never once called to see what they are all about. I would always start to dial the number and then hang up. Well I didnt hang up on thursday and good thing because I asked if they had any more room for a 3 year old and she said " actually we do, we have one spot available." Good Lord...I was so excited. I went that same day to check it out. I loved it. Everyone is so friendly there. They seem way more organized and professional then at Kids Complete.

I took Rilyn there for half a day on Friday to see what he would think and he loved it. He took to playing with his new playmates as soon as he got there. Today is Monday 2/2/09 and it was his official first day. I was nervous but I knew that he would be ok. I called them about 15 minutes ago to see how he was doing. Turns out he is doing great. He actually sat quietly and answered questions. They did say that during circle time he laid down and fell asleep. They woke him up and told him that they were going to play a little bit longer and then eat lunch and then nap. He said ok and off he went. I am so proud of my baby for being a trooper in this situation. He will miss all of his old friends but probably find some super cool new ones.

I know that everything happens for a reason and I am not sure what the issue was but I am glad that we were able to put Rilyn in a daycare that we are happy with.
