Disclaimer: I realize this post is about something in February. I've had a lot on my plate and I'm honestly just glad that I am getting the chance to document it.
For Christmas Rilyn got the gift of a lifetime--tickets to his first ever concert. This kid was over the moon when he read that he was going to be seeing The Fresh Beat Band live. February could not come soon enough.
Jeff and I were a little anxious because Ri has always been the kid that doesn't like loud noises. We tried taking him to the circus when he was three and the loud music resulted in us leaving before the circus really got started. Don't even let me get started on fireworks. Last year was the first year we were able to enjoy fireworks that didn't involve him wearing earphones and listening to his favorite songs during the show. And baseball games? We left a Royals game and sat in the parking lot while our family enjoyed themselves because the crowd and music and of course fireworks were just too much for our little man.
Because of his dislike for loud noises, we decided it would be best for Nana and Papa to not get him the main floor seats. We really had no idea how he would react and we wanted to be prepared to leave early if necessary. We did have an unobstructed view of the entire concert in our awesome Loge section of the Orpheum Theatre. No one was in front of us and Ri could stand or sit and still see the entire show.
I feel like I have way better photos on my camera, which I never upload, so my phone photos will have to do. Jeff and I took off work early and picked Ri up from school early. We got to spend the afternoon getting ice cream from Ted and Wallys in the Old Market and walked around until the concert started. Needless to say, Ri had the greatest time ever and I am so glad that Nana and Papa let Jeff and I experience this amazing first with him.

Pictures before the show began. He was showing off his new shirt and glow stick.
Trying to get a family shot. Take one was a little blurry but take two works just fine.
Mom and kiddo ready for the show to start/ OMG THEY ARE REAL PEOPLE FOR REAL!
Awesome concert! They were SO interactive and exactly like on the show (in need of Xanax)
He really would NOT put down the glow stick. It was the highlight of the night I think.
Seriously...whats with the glow stick?/ I tried to get a shot of him spastically dancing...I think I got it.
All-in-all, the concert was a HUGE success. He didn't have a freak out and he danced until his little legs could dance no more. He was even mad at us that we didn't get him seats in the first row! Next concert buddy, next concert.
Ri is awesome! Isn't it fun when they get to see their "tv friends" come to life?
ReplyDeleteOmgosh yes! He was so excited and kept saying that they really were exactly like on tv.
