Ri decided that he wanted something a little edgier for his school look. The curls were not cutting it for him. He wanted a mohawk. I blame it on a kid in his class that has a mohawk and sits right by him in at his desk quad. So being the nice "cool" mom that I am, I trekked over to my sisters for a mohawk that he would love.
The boy was excited to say the least. He kept rubbing it and saying "Is my mohawk still there?" Yes kid...for the 30th time, it is STILL there. Its not going to fall off. I have to admit that he does look like a cutie with his mohawk. It doesnt stick straight up circa 1980s (like he wanted) but its still a mohawk. I call it the black boy mohawk. He has his curls still up front and its smooth in the back with a little bit of "The Situation" designs cut into the side. I never noticed "The Situation" correlation until my husband pointed it out. This would make for a really cool halloween costume if we didnt already have that picked out.
Check out some shots from the day he got it. His aunt even jazzed it up by adding some washable color to it for the day. *Sorry my pictures are bad. One of these days I will post pictures that DONT come from my blackberry. Clearly, blackberry photos only work legitly in sunlight*
Pretty cute huh? Yeah, well the mohawk has evidently turned my cute adorable five year old into a rebel at school. The first day at school with the mohawk I get an email from his teacher that he had a "red" day. Red is the worst possible day...ay yi yi. I leave the kid alone with a mohawk for one day and he already rebels against the system. I also found out that his friend...the one with the original mohawk in his classroom? Well, he is no longer sitting by Ri. I guess they got a little too friendly and didnt know when to stop talking to each other. I guess this means that by being the "cool" mom I have created a Rebel Rock Monster. Somebody please help me. I sure hope that once the "hawk" grows back out, that his good natured personality returns. I cant start the craziness already. Im too young for this. He is too young for this. And may I remind you, he is only on his 3rd week of school.
